{twd} pretty much candy bars

I’m getting used to writing new blog posts using my iPhone. I can actually multi-task ( or at least pretend to multi-task) while I start a post.

On Saturday, my sister hosted a bachelorette party. She wanted me to make a dessert in the shape of a certain male body part. After I stopped laughing, I told her my decorating skills are on the rustic side and wouldn’t she prefer chocolate oatmeal bars? Yes, not only do I try to multi-task with my iPhone; I also try to multi-task with my baking.

This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was Chocolate Oatmeal Almost-Candy Bars, for most people though, they were pretty much candy bars. Very sweet. And very tasty. Or so I’m told. I’m still eating vegan, but I did save a couple for when my kickstart program ends this week.

Thanks to Lillian of Confectiona’s Realm for hosting this week. If you would like the recipe, visit her blog or buy the book.

  1. That’s funny… I am laughing trying to think of these bars being shaped into a certain body part! I think the squares are perfect though! 🙂
    Good job!

  2. These bars are so worthy of saving, I absolutely loved them. When I was reading your sister’s request, for a *small* second I thought, oh my goodness, did she make these bars in the shape of a certain male body part? That would have been some serious multitasking. As it is, I’m sure that these taste better in their original square form!

  3. Your bars look wonderful. I have made a certain shaped cake before for a bachelorette party. Always an interesting baking and decorating experience. I would rather have these bars.

  4. I happened to make these last week as my first recipe from Baking. Yeah, they are candy bars. Very tasty, kind of like a kudos bar or something. Yours look nice and pretty.

  5. Have fun eating them once you are allowing yourself to. They’ll be gone.

Although, I must say that I would have loved to see these transformed into a… urm… package 😉

  6. I’m not sure I’ve ever had oats in any candy bars, so I’m still on the fence about cookies/candy bars. 😉 Either way, these are friggin’ good and dangerous. I only took a few bites because I just can’t eat whatever I want!
Smart to save you a few!

  7. You should have called me. Not only am I a pretty good cake decorator (if I must say so myself) I own a cake pan in the shape of a certain male body part. Oh, your bars, they look great! 🙂

  8. I’m seriously impressed by your willpower to not sample what you make! Seriously! Your bars look awesome and I’m sure the bachelorette party loved em! Too bad you couldn’t make them in the shape of a “male body part!”

  9. Multitasking with baked goods is a fine idea. I didn’t have a particular event for these, but fortunately I can take stuff to the daycare teachers. They don’t usually complain. =) I hope you enjoy the bars once you get to try them.

  10. Thanks for the Secret Baker goodies! When I saw the package was from you, I was thinking “I hope she sent me some chia bars!” and you had. They’re so delicious! I bought the chia at Whole Foods but haven’t had time to make the bars. The granola is great too!
