I’m getting used to writing new blog posts using my iPhone. I can actually multi-task ( or at least pretend to multi-task) while I start a post.
On Saturday, my sister hosted a bachelorette party. She wanted me to make a dessert in the shape of a certain male body part. After I stopped laughing, I told her my decorating skills are on the rustic side and wouldn’t she prefer chocolate oatmeal bars? Yes, not only do I try to multi-task with my iPhone; I also try to multi-task with my baking.
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was Chocolate Oatmeal Almost-Candy Bars, for most people though, they were pretty much candy bars. Very sweet. And very tasty. Or so I’m told. I’m still eating vegan, but I did save a couple for when my kickstart program ends this week.
Thanks to Lillian of Confectiona’s Realm for hosting this week. If you would like the recipe, visit her blog or buy the book.
Great ! It’s nice to be or pretend to be multitasking !! And you certaily are !
That’s funny… I am laughing trying to think of these bars being shaped into a certain body part! I think the squares are perfect though! 🙂
Good job!
These bars are so worthy of saving, I absolutely loved them. When I was reading your sister’s request, for a *small* second I thought, oh my goodness, did she make these bars in the shape of a certain male body part? That would have been some serious multitasking. As it is, I’m sure that these taste better in their original square form!
Wow. You know that oatmeal layer was pretty mold-able…
I do the same thing when I am asked to bring a treat somewhere. multi-task! Great job.
Your bars look fabulous- Hope you enjoy them when you get to taste one!
I have to get better about posting from the iphone instead of just posting late! Hope you enjoy the bars when you get to try them!
Yummie, the oatmeal bars look delicious…and great posting using your iphone :-), I still have lots to learn before attempting and post with it.
great job getting nice, clean slices!
bahaha! 🙂 Glad everyone liked these.
Your bars look wonderful. I have made a certain shaped cake before for a bachelorette party. Always an interesting baking and decorating experience. I would rather have these bars.
I happened to make these last week as my first recipe from Baking. Yeah, they are candy bars. Very tasty, kind of like a kudos bar or something. Yours look nice and pretty.
These look delicious. I need to learn how to post from my iPhone.
Did you cut them into male shapes???
I too need to learn to post from my iphone.
I must admit, though, shaping the dough into body parts would have been interesting…….
Have fun eating them once you are allowing yourself to. They’ll be gone.
Although, I must say that I would have loved to see these transformed into a… urm… package 😉
haha! That’s hilarious! the bars look delicious- I’m sure you will enjoy them once you are back on eggs and butter!
I’m not sure I’ve ever had oats in any candy bars, so I’m still on the fence about cookies/candy bars. 😉 Either way, these are friggin’ good and dangerous. I only took a few bites because I just can’t eat whatever I want!
Smart to save you a few!
They do look like homemade candy bars. And sinfully tempting!
You have amazing will power to bake and not eat!
You should have called me. Not only am I a pretty good cake decorator (if I must say so myself) I own a cake pan in the shape of a certain male body part. Oh, your bars, they look great! 🙂
I’m seriously impressed by your willpower to not sample what you make! Seriously! Your bars look awesome and I’m sure the bachelorette party loved em! Too bad you couldn’t make them in the shape of a “male body part!”
These look really rich. I haven’t tried them yet!
LOL. Chocolatechic cracks me up. They look great, and yes, VERY sweet.
Multitasking with baked goods is a fine idea. I didn’t have a particular event for these, but fortunately I can take stuff to the daycare teachers. They don’t usually complain. =) I hope you enjoy the bars once you get to try them.
These will be a great reward when you’re able to eat them!
Multi tasking is important when it comes to getting all those baked goodies out into the world. When I tweet during the day, yup, it’s on my iPhone.
That is pretty darn funny, I think you can shape these bars into a manly body part. 😉
They get better as they sit. I had to hide them in the freezer!
Thanks for the Secret Baker goodies! When I saw the package was from you, I was thinking “I hope she sent me some chia bars!” and you had. They’re so delicious! I bought the chia at Whole Foods but haven’t had time to make the bars. The granola is great too!
Guess it would depend on WHICH body part. LOL
But the squares look perfect.
Ha-ha! So what you’re saying is you baked these into the shape of a male body part? 🙂

I think the bars were the much better choice! They look great.
Wonderful information, We’ve ultimatelyuncovered the bookmark button hence can test without visiting!
I can shape these unknowingly phallicly.
And then giggle when I watch my friends eat them…
Oh I love you more then words sometimes.
Love how your layers came out and the little yellow linen shows them off so nicely. Kudos to you for doing such a nice job on these.
