{twd} Fluff-Filled Chocolate Madeleines

Okay.  My Mother is retired and in her spare time she volunteers for the Assistance League and runs their thrift store. Anytime something baking related comes into the store she calls me asking if I need this or that pan. I’m happy that she thinks of me and my baking needs. However, there are only so many tart pans or mini-pie tins I can use. One week she bought me an angel-food cake pan. Awesome. I didn’t have one. Later that week she called saying another angel-food cake pan arrived and did I want it. “Why the heck would I ever need TWO angel-food cake pans??” “You’ve got a point there.” Especially true because I’ve never made an angel-food cake and I’m really not a fan of it. O:)

And this is why I have multiple madeleine pans. And why I’ve made madeleines multiple times. They’re mighty tasty. I’m a fan. This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie, Fluff-Filled Chocolate Madeleines, are a chocolate version of the yummy French cookie. Stuffed with marshmallow fluff and dipped in chocolate ganache. If that doesn’t spell delicious, I don’t know what does.

Thanks to Margot of Effort to Deliciousness for hosting this week. For the recipe visit her blog or buy the book.

  1. I finally bought a madeline pan, and then I stopped with TWD. You just made me cry a little! STuffed with fluff and dipped in chocolate? Who ARE you?

By the way, not sure if you saw it, but I HAD to include you on my Food Holidays post yesterday with the bittersweet chocolate. YUM! If you didn’t, the main link is http://www.doughmesstic.net/foodholidays/ – and if you have anything else for a future Food Holiday I would LOVE a link to it.

Have a great day, eating all those madelines. I have none! Boo!

  2. The madeleines look terrific! Your mom’s gig at the thrift store sounds like a great retirement job; that’s really cool that you’ve gotten some nice pans that way.

  3. Your mom and my mom are identical…except she is calling me from HomeGoods clearance aisle every week saying the same thing…last week, it was a mini loaf pan :).

  4. How nice of your mom! Sometimes its hard to find good quality pans so sometimes a thrift store find is the best thing. Your madelines look yummy!

  5. that’s funny! i scour the thrift stores around where i live for cool retro bakeware, but almost never see anything good. i guess everyone in nyc gets take-out instead of cooking. great looking maddies…i should make them more often, too.

  6. Wow, your Mads look really great, just like they are supposed to look. Mine, not so much, and it wasn’t for the lack of a good Mad pan either. Oh, well, another day. Very fun to have a Mom that keeps surprising you…so cute she wanted you to have two angel food cake pans…Moms are like that, if there is a good deal, two is better than one of it!

  7. Nothing like having your own kitchenware personal shopper! Your madeleines look perfect, absolutely perfect! Welcome back (though I guess you’ve been back, where have I been?!?)
